Mobile Health Van Specifications

Complete technical specifications for Odulair purpose-built mobile health vans: Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Ford Transit, and Ram ProMaster. Electrical, HVAC, clinical equipment, ADA compliance, and water system specs. WOSB, CAGE 6L2X9, SAM.gov.

Purpose-Built — Not a Conversion

Odulair builds purpose-built mobile health vans on three primary chassis platforms: the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Ford Transit, and Ram ProMaster. Each platform is optimized for different clinical use cases, deployment environments, and operational requirements. The specifications below represent standard Odulair build configurations. Custom specifications are available — contact Odulair for a detailed quote based on your clinical program requirements. Every Odulair van is a complete clinical system, not a conversion.

How to Read a Mobile Health Van Spec Sheet

A mobile health van spec sheet contains several categories of specifications, each relevant to different aspects of clinical operations. Chassis specifications (GVWR, wheelbase, payload) determine what equipment can be loaded and whether a commercial driver’s license is required. Interior dimensions (height, width, length) determine patient throughput capacity and clinical workflow. Electrical specifications (solar array size, battery capacity, inverter rating, shore power amperage) determine whether the van can operate full clinical sessions without shore power or generator.

HVAC specifications determine patient and clinician comfort in extreme temperatures and how long the unit can run HVAC independently of the engine. Clinical equipment specifications document what is installed and to what clinical standard. ADA compliance specifications document lift capacity and accessible design features required for federal grant compliance. Water system specifications document fresh water capacity, grey water capacity, and whether the unit can operate in sites without water hookup. Use the specifications below as a baseline for your RFP or procurement comparison.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Specifications

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is Odulair’s most popular mobile health van chassis, available in 3500 and 4500 configurations with 144" or 170" wheelbase options. The Sprinter 3500 144" is ideal for single-provider programs with moderate equipment loads. The Sprinter 3500 170" provides maximum interior length for dental chair installations and multi-provider configurations. The Sprinter 4500 offers a higher GVWR for heavy equipment loads including full dental packages with compressor, autoclave, and digital x-ray.

Wheelbase Options144" or 170" extended
GVWR — Sprinter 35008,550 lbs (CDL not required)
GVWR — Sprinter 450011,030 lbs (CDL not required)
Interior Height56" standard high-roof
Powertrain Options2.0L diesel; eSprinter electric
DrivetrainRWD standard; 4x4 available (3500)
Solar SystemSolana™ — standard on all builds
ADA LiftUnderchassis lift available
CDL RequirementNot required (3500 and 4500)

Ford Transit Specifications

The Ford Transit is the most widely serviced van platform in North America, making it a preferred choice for programs in areas with limited Mercedes-Benz dealer coverage. The Transit 148" extended wheelbase high-roof provides the tallest interior of the three primary platforms at 57", enabling full standing height for clinical providers. The E-Transit electric variant is fully EPA-certified zero-emission and is increasingly required for urban health contracts in CARB-compliant states. All-wheel drive is available on Transit platforms for northern and rural deployment environments.

Wheelbase148" extended
GVWR8,600 lbs (CDL not required)
Interior Height57" high-roof (tallest van platform)
Powertrain Options3.5L EcoBoost diesel; E-Transit electric
DrivetrainRWD standard; AWD available
Solar SystemSolana™ — standard on all builds
Service NetworkWidest dealer network in North America
CDL RequirementNot required

Ram ProMaster Specifications

The Ram ProMaster offers the widest interior cargo width of any van platform at 60", making it particularly well-suited for mobile clinics requiring wider exam station configurations, side-by-side clinical workstations, or wheelchair-accessible interior layouts. The 159" wheelbase provides maximum cargo length in a front-wheel-drive platform that simplifies urban maneuvering and eliminates the drivetrain tunnel that occupies floor space in RWD platforms. The ProMaster is available exclusively in diesel and FWD configuration.

Wheelbase159" (longest standard wheelbase)
GVWR8,550 lbs (CDL not required)
Interior Width60" (widest van platform available)

Electrical System Specifications — Solana™ Solar

Every Odulair mobile health van includes the Solana™ integrated solar and lithium battery system as standard equipment. The Solana™ system enables the van to operate HVAC, lighting, and medical equipment during full clinical sessions without engine idle or generator operation — eliminating diesel idle fuel costs and enabling operation in zero-emission zones. The system charges from rooftop solar panels during the day and can be supplemented by shore power at any standard electrical hookup.

Solar Array3–5 kW rooftop panel array
Battery Bank20 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP)
Shore Power200A shore power connection
Inverter-ChargerPure sine wave, auto-transfer switching
Medical-Grade OutletsHospital-grade GFCI outlets throughout

Engine Idle RequiredNo — HVAC runs on solar/battery

HVAC Specifications

Odulair mobile health vans are equipped with a mini-split HVAC system independent of the vehicle engine. The mini-split runs on the Solana™ battery and solar system, enabling precise temperature control during patient care without engine operation. This eliminates diesel idle costs, exhaust emissions in school or hospital parking areas, and the acoustic disruption of a running engine during clinical encounters.

HVAC TypeMini-split (independent of engine)
Cooling Capacity12,000–18,000 BTU/hr
HeatingHeat pump + electric backup
